WEAVING THE DREAM!
In 1996 Creative Health Network was just beginning to create a
gathering called The Healing Summit. We were calling everyone we knew
asking for connections to people that would be interested in coming to
our unique event. It was unique in many ways, we called it a gathering
of peers and equals, healers and humanitarians. We knew it would be
self -selecting as we could not pay anyone to present. This limitation
became a strength and we would soon see that over 220 humanitarians from
19 countries chose to participate.
A friend in So. California gave me Penny McManigal's name and phone
number. My friend had told me that Penny was an International
Transformational artist and that she thought Penny might be interested
in what we were trying to do. As soon as I spoke with Penny I felt in
her the same passion for peace and the Earth that I experience. She
told me about her current project which was creating the 'live art' of
'Imagine Weaving The Dream!'.
"Weaving the Dream!' became the focal point for both the Healing Summit
held in Monterey in October of 97 and the following one in Glastonbury,
England in Aug. of 98. Penny brought the bamboo skeleton, making a tall
circle from the bamboo pieces, to which we fastened pieces of brightly
colored cloth or scarves. In our confirmation letter we asked each
participant to bring one or the other to help create the sculpture.
This 'live art' embodied The Summit, weaving together people from many
different backgrounds, races, professions, talents and healing
modalities. Together we were beautiful, colorful, creative and
purposeful in our intent to live in community and on a healthy Planet.
In Monterey, The Weave was on the beach, right in front of the hotel, in
Glastonbury it was on a lawn midst trees and permanent sculptures. In
Glastonbury our ceremony with and around The Weave began our gathering,
for those of us who experienced the Summit at Monterey as well, it wove
us tighter together.
Penny has taken The Weave many places, and will be bringing it to our
fourth Healing Summit in Australia in August of this year. It has
greatly influenced the growing intention of these gatherings as the
slogan for this years Summit is 'Weaving the Rainbow Web and Manifesting
the Dream' !
